Niamey.- El Gobierno decretó 3 días de luto para Níger que tiene como propósito honrar la memoria de las víctimas del ataque armado de Boko Haram el pasado sábado contra la isla de Karamga.
Ese ataque causó 46 muertos, entre militares y civiles, nueve heridos y 32 desaparecidos, todos ellos soldados o policías que ocupaban una «base avanzada» de las Fuerzas de Defensa y Seguridad (FDS) en esta isla perteneciente al municipio de Bosso, en la región de Diffa colindante con Nigeria, desde donde se cree llegaron los terroristas.
El ministro del Interior, Hassoumi Massaoudou, que ha tomado las riendas de esta crisis y es el que está informando de la mayor tragedia terrorista vivida en el país, explicó que las banderas ondearán a media asta durante los tres días de duelo.
Massaoudou explicó ayer que en el tiroteo abierto por los militantes de Boko Haram, llegados por sorpresa a la isla, fueron ellos los que sufrieron más pérdidas, concretamente 156 terroristas muertos, mientras que hubo además 28 civiles caídos en el fuego cruzado.
