El expresidente de Estados Unidos, George H. W. Bush ha sido dado de alta de un hospital del estado de Maine, cuatro días después de romperse un hueso en el cuello.
Bush, de 91 años y el expresidente vivo de mayor edad, fue hospitalizado el miércoles luego de romperse una vértebra al caer en su casa veraniega de Kennebunkport, Maine.
“Está en tan buena condición que puede continuar su recuperación en casa”, dijo el portavoz de Bush, Jim McGrath.
La fractura fue en la vértebra C2, la segunda debajo del cráneo, pero no afectó la espina dorsal. Los médicos anticipan una recuperación total.
El expresidente también padece de la enfermedad de Parkinson.
Bush primero fue vicepresidente durante los dos períodos presidenciales de Ronald Reagan antes de ser elegido para un período como presidente en 1988.
Bush es padre del también expresidente George W. Bush y del actual aspirante a la presidencia, Jeb Bush.
