El Ministro Adjnto de Deportes de Grecia, Stavros Kondonis, anunció que la liga de futbol de Grecia queda suspendida de manera indefinida, luego de los incidentes protagonizados el fin de semana, en donde aficionados del Olympiakos y del Panathinaikos se enfrentaron luego del partido entre ambos equipos.
De acuerdo con el ministro, quedan suspendidos todos los partidos de Primera, Segunda y Tercera División, tanto profesionales como semi profesionales, con el fin de implantar medidas que erradiquen este tipo de conductas de los estadios, sin importar que ello afecte las finanzas de los clubes.
Está no es la primera vez que un país europeo suspende su liga por hechos violentos en sus estadios. Italia en su momento, también suspendió su liga luego de la muerte de un policía en un partido disputado en Sicilia, lo que ocasionó la suspensión de la Serie A por una jornada, además de jugar partidos a puerta cerrada la siguiente jornada.
