LOS ÁNGELES (California) – Un juez falló en contra del dueño de los Clippers Donald Sterling y allanó el camino para que Steve Ballmer, ex director ejecutivo de Microsoft, compre al equipo de la NBA por 2,000 millones de dólares.
El juez Michael Levanas respaldó a la esposa de Sterling dentro de una disputa que estalló cuando el multimillonario de 80 años fue sancionado por la NBA tras trascender una grabación en la que se le escucha profiriendo frases denigrantes sobre los negros.
Shelly Sterling, la esposa, recurrió a los tribunales en procura de un aval para el acuerdo de venta que negoció tras asumir el control de un fideicomiso familiar y remover a su esposo como administrador, luego que dos doctores diagnosticaron que padece el mal de Alzheimer y no podía cumplir con los deberes diarios.
Pero Donald Sterling aseguró que su esposa le engañó sobre los exámenes médicos.
Sterling ha prometido luchar contra la NBA hasta que muera, y se prevé que seguirá radicando recursos legales para impedir la venta de los Clippers.
