México.- La mujer más vieja del mundo, la japonesa Misao Okawa, celebró hoy, con un día de antelación, su 117 cumpleaños en compañía de sus familiares, informó hoy la cadena pública nipona NHK.
La mujer, que vive en una residencia geriátrica de Osaka (oeste de Japón) recibió hoy la visita del alcalde de su distrito, que le regaló unas flores, y se hizo después varias fotos con la familia de la anciana, incluido su hijo de 92 años.
Sus cuidadores contaron a NHK que su estado de salud es bueno y que come tres veces al día (sus platos favoritos son el estofado de ternera y los fideos de origen chino, explicaron).
Detallaron también que la mujer suele dormir unas 15 horas al día y que, cuando se siente con fuerzas, se mueve sola por las instalaciones en su silla de ruedas.
Okawa, reconocida como la mujer y la persona viva más vieja del mundo por el Libro Guinness de los Récords, nació el 5 de marzo de 1898 en Osaka.
Desde febrero de 2013 ha sido reconocida como la mujer de más edad del mundo, y desde agosto de ese mismo año como la persona viva más vieja.
La mujer ha tenido tres hijos, cuatro nietos y seis bisnietos.
El hombre más viejo del mundo es también un japonés, Sakari Momoi, que celebró su 112 cumpleaños el pasado 5 de febrero.
