Eduardo Cruz, padre de la actriz española Penélope Cruz, falleció esta madrugada en su domicilio de La Manga del Mar Menor, en el municipio de San Javier (Murcia), al parecer a causa de un infarto.
Sobre las 2:00 horas, el servicio de emergencia de esa ciudad recibió una llamada alertando que un hombre de 62 años se encontraba inconsciente y con dificultad respiratoria en su casa, situada junto al puerto Tomás Maestre de La Manga.
Al lugar acudió una Unidad Móvil de Emergencias del Servicio Murciano de Salud, cuyo personal sanitario solo pudo confirmar que había fallecido. El padre de las actrices Penélope y Mónica Cruz ya contaba con antecedentes por problemas cardiacos.
Eduardo Cruz era padre de cuatro hijos. Los tres que tuvo con su primera mujer, Penélope, Mónica y Eduardo, y de una niña de 3 años llamada Salma con su segunda mujer, Carmen Moreno, con la que mantenía una relación desde hace doce años.
