El Servicio Nacional de Geología y Minería (Sernageomín) chileno mantiene su vigilancia sobre el volcán Calbuco en el sur del país, que ha registrado tres erupciones en una semana y no se descarta que pueda haber una cuarta.
«Nosotros no descartamos la ocurrencia de un cuarto pulso pero siempre con un nivel de energía menor», declaró Rodrigo Álvarez, director del Sernageomín.
El Calbuco de 2,015 metros de altitud y ubicado a unos mil kilómetros de Santiago de Chile, entró en erupción el jueves por tercera vez en una semana, lanzando una columna de humo y cenizas de casi cuatro kilómetros que se desplazó hacia el sureste.
Álvarez dijo que el volcán mantiene actividad sísmica y que seguirá en alerta roja hasta nuevo aviso.
