París.- El ministro francés de Asuntos Exteriores, Laurent Fabius, afirmó hoy sentirse “indignado” por el presunto asesinato del periodista estadonidense James Foley en Siria por el grupo yihadista Estado Islámico de Irak y el Levante (EIIL).
“Es con indignación que me enteré de la ejecución del periodista estadunidense James Foley, secuestrado en Siria por el (autodenominado) Estado Islámico”, declaró el canciller.
“Si se confirma este asesinato innoble, confirmaría la verdadera cara de ese califato de la barbarie”, que es el grupo armado EIIL, comentó.
El asesinato “llama a la condena más firme de la comunidad internacional y refuerza nuestra determinación a luchar contra el Estado Islámico conforme a la resolución 2170 del Consejo de Seguridad de las Naciones Unidas”, indicó el canciller de Francia.
“Más que nunca Francia está comprometida a favor del derecho de los periodistas a trabajar con toda seguridad. Ninguna forma de impunidad podría existir para los autores de estos actos bárbaros”, subrayó.
La prensa internacional publicó que el periodista estadunidense James Foley fue secuestrado hace dos años en Siria y se presume fue decapitado en fecha reciente, según un video divulgado por un grupo yihadista en internet.
