El exgobernador de Texas Rick Perry anunció este jueves que buscará de nuevo ser candidato del Partido Republicano a la presidencia de Estados Unidos, luego de que abandonara sus aspiraciones en 2012 tras perder popularidad en los debates televisivos con rivales de partido.
Perry, de 65 años, lanzó su campaña por medio de un video dado a conocer en Internet en el que promete «hacer lo que sea necesario, sin importar los riesgos o las consecuencias».
En su sitio web se destaca el número de empleos creados y se recuerda varias reducciones de impuestos acordadas en Texas durante el mandato de Perry en ese estado del sur del país.
Según medios locales, planea pronunciar su primer discurso de campaña en algún momento de este jueves.
Perry, que fue gobernador de Texas durante 14 años, superando a todos sus sucesores, deberáenfrentar a numerosos precandidatos republicanos: él es el 10º que anuncia su candidatura y otros seis se dispondrían a hacerlo próximamente.
En el partido demócrata son cuatro por el momento, y la exprimera dama y exjefa de la diplomacia estadounidense Hillary Clinton es la gran favorita.
