El director ejecutivo de Turkish Airlines, Temel Kotil, pidió a los pilotos solteros de la compañía que se casen para evitar casos como el de Andreas Lubitz, el copiloto alemán que presuntamente estrelló de forma deliberada un avión con 150 personas a bordo, informó hoy el diario turco Hürriyet.
«El accidente ocurrió después de que el piloto rompiera con su novia. Por lo tanto, amigos, sepan que animamos a los pilotos solteros a casarse», declaró Kotil en una ceremonia en la que nuevos pilotos se incorporaban a la compañía. Según distintos medios, Lubitz y su novia rompieron su relación en las semanas anteriores a la tragedia del pasado 24 de marzo, dato no confirmado por las autoridades.
El máximo responsable de la compañía también destacó en la ceremonia la importancia del «estilo de vida» de los pilotos, en unos comentarios que han levantado cierto estupor en Turquía.
«Si esto es una broma, es verdaderamente muy mala», dijo en la televisión CNNTürk el reconocido comentarista político Deniz Zeyrek.Kotil también alentó durante la ceremonia a que más mujeres se presenten a los cursos para aprender a dirigir un avión de pasajeros y lamentó que de los 86 pilotos recién graduados sólo hubiera tres mujeres.
«En este momento sólo tenemos a 40 mujeres piloto» de un total de unos 4.000 pilotos, indicó Kotil. El presidente de Turquía, el islamistaRecep Tayyip Erdogan, es un defensor público del matrimonio y ha pedido en reiteradas ocasiones a todas las mujeres turcas tener al menos tres hijos.
