Una persona falleció y otras cuatro resultaron heridas al estrellarse ayer una avioneta en Alaska que volaba entre Juneau, la segunda mayor ciudad del estado, y la isla de Chichagof, informó la Guardia Costera.
La avioneta, del modelo Cessna 207, era operada por la aerolínea local de vuelos chárter Wings of Alaska y en ella viajaban cuatro pasajeros y el piloto, que se dirigían al aeropuerto de Hoonah, en la isla Chichagof (sureste de Alaska).
Por el momento, se desconoce si el fallecido es el piloto o uno de los cuatro pasajeros, mientras que los sobrevivientes fueron rescatados por la Guardia Costera y trasladados al hospital, sin que tampoco se conozca la gravedad de sus heridas.
La avioneta se estrelló cuando sobrevolaba una zona montañosa a 29 kilómetros al oeste de Juneau, punto hasta el que se desplazó un helicóptero con los equipos de rescate.
La alerta sobre el accidente saltó cuando una de las personas que iba a bordo de la aeronave llamó a la Policía para avisar de que ésta había sufrido un accidente.
