Mary Jo Foley -periodista 30 años de experiencia especializada en Microsoft- le fueron reveladas aún mas noticias con respecto al lanzamiento previo y de prueba de Windows 9, por supuesto no mencionó sus fuentes por políticas de ética y seguridad. Todo parece indicar que según sus fuentes habrá una versión de evaluación del nuevo sistema operativo de Microsoft para finales de septiembre o principios de octubre de este año para cualquier persona que lo quiera probar.
Se espera que Windows 9 o “Threshold” su nombre clave abandone su diseño de fichas de colores como el que encontramos actualmente en Windows 8 para sustituirlo por un menú de incio tradicional. Sin embargo, también existe el rumor que tendrá la característica de un Mini Menú de Inicio. De hecho, Microsoft también planea desaparecer la barra de Charms del sistema y poner en su lugar escritorios virtuales.
