La historia de amor que protagoniza esta nota comenzó con una donación a la tienda de caridad St. Gemma’s Hospice en Leeds, Inglaterra cuando un abuelito de 85 años buscaba deshacerse del vestido de novia que utilizó su fallecida esposa; claro que el vestido era un encanto, pero lo que más llamó la atención de la gente fue una nota que dejó a todos con el corazón en la mano.
«Deseo que la mujer que use este vestido pueda disfrutar 56 años de un feliz matrimonio como el que yo tuve. Fui muy afortunado de casarme con una mujer como la mía», escribió el viejito en una nota engrapada al vestido.
El vestido era un auténtico diseño vintage de los años 50, en tono marfil y con encaje floral, muy apreciado por la delicadeza de su diseño. La tienda puso el vestido a subasta a través de la plataforma Ebay, acompañado de su historia, y la prenda atrajo a compradores de todos los continentes. Finalmente, la venta se cerró por 2.910 libras (más de 71 mil pesos mexicanos).
El éxito del vestido fue tal, que muchos pidieron conocer el nombre de aquel señor enamorado que donó el vestido; sin embargo, el protagonista decidió permanecer en el anonimato tras ver que su historia se volvió viral. El dinero de la venta será donado a pacientes con enfermedades terminales y a sus familias.
