Durante la conferencia de prensa de la comedia negra Burying the Ex (Enterrando a la ex) que se presentó en el Riviera Maya Film Festival, el legendario realizador Joe Dante confesó que no tendrá injerencia alguna en el remake de Gremlins, par de cintas que dirigió en 1984 y 1990.
“Estoy seguro que mientras estamos aquí hablando, la cinta ya se está escribiendo”, comentó. “No [estaré involucrado], porque el proyecto no me pertenece. Le pertenece a otras personas”. Ahí le hablan Mr. Spielberg.
A últimas fechas, hemos visto un resurgimiento de estos personajes a través de la publicidad (de Snickers, por ejemplo), pero en el pasado CinemaCon, el escritor de las cintas Chris Columbus (quien dirigió las dos primeras partes de Harry Potter), aseguró a MTVnews.com que el proyecto sigue caminando, aunque no será un remake, sino que se irán por un camino totalmente diferente: “Estará en el mismo universo, las misas reglas, los mismo Gremlins, pero no será lo mismo”… Ya hubo un guión hecho por Seth Grahame-Smith (Sombras tenebrosas y próximamente Orgullo y prejuicio y zombies yBeetlejuice 2), pero no prosperó. Después, lo tomó Carl Ellsworth (Red Eye, Red Dawn), cuyas cintas no han prosperado en la taquilla, al menos no en nuestro país. ¿Debemos preocuparnos?
En cuanto a Burying the Ex (Enterrando a la ex) es una cinta muy al estilo de Arrástrame al infierno de Sam Raimi, en la que Aron Yelchin –también presente en el festival– debe de lidiar de manera heterodoxa con Evelyn (Ashleey Greene) su posesiva exnovia que regresó de la muerte y ahora es un zombie. En la cinta también aparece la guapa Alexandra Daddario, a quien en mayo veremos en la megaproducción, San Andreas. Por cierto, esta cinta aún no está vendida en nuestro territorio, por si algún distribuidor que nos lea gusta comprarla…
Trivia: Ésta es la segunda vez que el director visita nuestro país en la vida. La primera fue en Acapulco para presentar Inner Space, aquí titulada Viaje fantástico. Eso fue en 1987, uuuh.
