En su cuenta de Twitter, el músico publicó una foto donde se lo puede ver de joven con una rosa y la leyenda: «They say it’s your birthday…!» (Ellos dicen que es tu cumpleaños), en referencia al tema «Birthday» de los Beatles, junto a unos simpáticos emoticones.

Su historia es bien conocida. James Paul McCartney nació en Liverpool el 18 de junio de 1942, su padre era un vendedor de algodón y aficionado al jazz, y su madre Mary una enfermera en una sala de maternidad.
En 1954, mientras viajaba en un micro al colegio, conoció a George Harrison y nació una profunda amistad. Para superar el dolor por la pérdida de su madre, Paul recibió de regalo una trompeta que con el tiempo cambió por una guitarra.
Todo cambió cuando el 6 de julio de 1957 fue junto a Ivan Vaughn, amigo en común con John Lennon, a la feria de Woolton Village, en ella tocaba The Quarry Men, un grupo de fama barrial, donde cantaba Lennon. Cuenta la historia que luego del recital, McCartney le afinó la guitarra a Lennon y le tocó «Twenty flight rock». Fue una prueba para sumarse a la banda.
Con el correr de los días llegarían algunos cambios, entraría George Harrison, y el nacimiento de una banda que cambiaría la historia de la música moderna: los Beatles.
